  • with an overactive thyroid gland,
  • with bradycardia (slow heart rate),
  • with hypertension,
  • with hypokalemia, deficiency of magnesium in the blood,
  • with chronic breathing difficulties, asthma,
  • with pyloric stenosis,
  • with congenital long QT syndrome or other cardiac dysfunction, e.g. coronary artery disease, cardiovascular diseases, arrhythmia.

Particular caution is also recommended in the case of concomitant administration of certain antiarrhythmic drugs causing prolongation of the QT interval on the ECG or leading to a decrease in serum potassium or magnesium.

Aviomarin with food and drink:

Aviomarin can be taken with or without food. The tablet should be washed down with a sufficient amount of water.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Ask your doctor for advice before taking any medicine.

Aviomarin should not be used during the third trimester of pregnancy. During the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, as well as during breastfeeding, the drug should only be used when, in the opinion of the doctor, the benefits of treatment outweigh the potential risks to the baby.

Driving vehicles

Aviomarin reduces psychophysical fitness, therefore it should not be used by people who drive motor vehicles and operate mechanical devices in motion.

Overdosage

The first symptoms of an overdose appear about 30 minutes to 2 hours after taking the toxic dose (25 mg / kg body weight) and consist mainly of: headaches and dizziness, increasing tiredness and drowsiness. After some time, the following may additionally occur: itching of the skin, dilation of the blood vessels of the skin, dilated pupils with their slow reaction to light and accommodation paralysis, nystagmus, muscle weakness, tendon reflexes and urinary retention. Heart rate is markedly increased, blood pressure is raised or lowered. In the further course, symptoms of central nervous system depression (speech disorders, disorientation in time and space, ataxia, coma) or central nervous system stimulation (seizures, hallucinations) gradually increase.

Interactions with other drugs

Tell your doctor about all the drugs you are taking or have recently taken, and about any drugs you plan to use.

Aviomarin should not be used concomitantly with drugs that depress the central nervous system or alcohol.

The drug should not be used concomitantly with atropine, tricyclic antidepressants, catecholamines, central nervous system depressants, such as sleeping pills or sedatives, as Aviomarin enhances their effects. Aviomarin, when used with bismuth salts as well as painkillers, psychotropics and scopolamine, may cause temporary impairment of vision (impairment of dark vision and color vision).

Aviomarin reduces the effect of corticosteroids and oral anticoagulants.

The combination of Aviomarin with ototoxic (hearing-damaging) drugs such as aminoglycoside antibiotics should be avoided.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs, antidepressants) may increase the antihistamine and sedative effects of dimenhydrinate.

Particular caution is advised when using dimenhydrinate with drugs that prolong the QT interval on the ECG (some antiarrhythmic drugs, some antibiotics, e.g. diuretic).

Aviomarin should be discontinued at least three days before scheduled allergy testing because of the possibility of false-negative results.
