Espumisan
Espumisan contains the active substance simethicone, which acts as an agent in gastrointestinal ailments and as an auxiliary in diagnostic tests.
Intended Use
Espumisan is used:
- in the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal ailments associated with excessive accumulation of gases in the digestive tract, e.g. flatulence;
- in case of increased gas formation in the postoperative period;
- in preparing patients for radiological and ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity and gastroscopy.

Composition
1 capsule contains: | simethicone 40 mg |
excipients: methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, glycerol dyes – quinoline yellow (E 104), sunset yellow (E110) |
Dosage
In gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive accumulation of gas, e.g. bloating, including in the case of increased gas formation in the postoperative period:
Children over 6 years, adolescents and adults: 2 capsules (equivalent to 80 mg simethicone) 3 to 4 times per day.
Note: Espumisan can also be taken in the postoperative period.
Other formulations are available for younger children and infants.
Espumisan can be taken during or after meals, if necessary, also at bedtime.
Espumisan should be taken as long as symptoms persist.
If necessary, Espumisan can be taken for a longer period of time.
Contraindications
If you are allergic to simethicone, sunset yellow FCF (E110), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Due to the action of simethicone and its lack of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the body, no harmful effects are expected from the use of Espumisan during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are no clinical data on the use of Espumisan in pregnant women.

No special precautions are required.

There are no known interactions with other drugs.

So far, no side effects associated with the use of Espumisan have been reported.
