Herbapol Liquid Valerian Extract is a traditional herbal medicinal product that soothes the symptoms of mild nervous tension and helps you fall asleep.
Active substance: Valerianae tinctura
Composition
Composition per 100g:
Valerian root tincture (Valerianae tinctura) – 100g.
The preaprate is a macerate (1:5) with 70% ethanol. valerian root.
Ethanol content 64-68% (v/v).
Dosage
Traditionally, the following regimen is used for adolescents from 12 years of age, adults and the elderly: 1 teaspoon of the product (approx. 5 ml) up to 3 times a day in states of mild nervous tension. In order to facilitate falling asleep, use a single dose (5 ml) 1/2-1 hour before bedtime, and if necessary, 2 doses; in the evening and before bedtime. Do not exceed the daily dose of 20 ml of liquid (4 teaspoons of 5 ml).
Contraindications
Do not take if you have a hypersensitivity to valerian.

Warnings
Do not use in children under 12 years of age. The product should not be administered to people suffering from liver disease, epilepsy, alcoholism. A single dose of the product contains 2.7 g of ethanol. If symptoms persist, contact your doctor.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Due to the ethanol content and the lack of data on the safety of using valerian root preparations during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the product should not be used during these periods.
Driving
Due to the content of ethanol and valerian root, the preparation has an adverse effect on the ability to drive and use machines, especially for a period of about 2 hours after taking the drug.
After ingestion, alcohol may be detected by breath alcohol measuring devices.
Overdosage
Symptoms related to the ethanol content may occur. Valerian root in a dose of about 20g causes numerous mild symptoms (fatigue, abdominal cramps, chest tightness, dizziness, hand tremors and pupil dilation), which usually disappear within 24 hours. Treatment should be provided if symptoms occur.
Interactions with other drugs
Few data are available on pharmacological interactions with other medicinal products. No clinically significant interactions have been observed with drugs metabolised by CYP 2D6, CYP 3A4/5, CYP 1A2 or CYP 2E1. Concomitant use with synthetic sedatives is not recommended.
Side Effects
Possible occurrence of gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, abdominal cramps). The frequency is unknown.
