Hirudoid Gel 40g
Hirudoid Gel contains Mucoplisaccharide polysulfate, which belongs to a group of topical medications for:
- blunt injuries with or without hematomas.
- superficial vein inflammation that cannot be treated with a pressure dressing.
Hirudoid gel can also be used for phono and iontophoresis. During iontophoresis, the gel is fed under the cathode.

Composition
The active substance | Mucopolysaccharide polysulfate 0.3 g / 100 g. |
the other ingredients | sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol, carbomers, isopropyl alcohol, purified water. |
How is Hirudoid used?
Hirudoid should be applied 2 to 3 times a day to the affected areas or, if necessary, more frequently. Depending on the size of the treated area, it is usually sufficient to apply 3 to 5 cm of gel.
Gently massage into the affected areas. The medicinal product should not be used under a dressing.
Treatment usually takes up to 10 days for blunt injuries, and 1-2 weeks for superficial phlebitis.
Hirudoid can also be used for phono and iontophoresis. During iontophoresis, the gel is fed under the cathode.
When not to use Hirudoid?
- Allergy to mucopolysaccharide polysulfate or any of the other ingredients of this drug
- Hirudoid gel contains isopropyl alcohol and therefore contact with open wounds, mucous membranes and eyes should be avoided.

Warning
Hirudoid contains propylene glycol. The drug may cause skin irritation.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The frequency is less than 1 in 10,000 patients – very rare.
Local hypersensitivity reactions, such as reddening of the skin, may very rarely occur
and usually disappear quickly after discontinuation of the medicinal product.
