Panadol Sprint (12 Tablets)
Panadol Sprint is a drug containing paracetamol, which has an analgesic and antipyretic effect.
Panadol Sprint tablets have a special composition of excipients that accelerate the disintegration of the tablet (Optizorb), which accelerates the release process compared to standard paracetamol tablets. The tablets begin to disintegrate within 5 minutes after administration.
Symptoms
- Panadol Sprint is indicated for headaches, migraines, tension pains, toothaches, neuralgias, spinal pains, bone, joint and muscle pains, dysmenorrhea, sore throats, symptomatic treatment of pain in the course of mild arthritis.
- Panadol Sprint has an analgesic and antipyretic effect during colds and flu-like conditions.
Active ingredient: Paracetamol
Composition
The active substance of the drug is paracetamol. Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol.
The other ingredients are: pregelatinized starch, calcium carbonate, alginic acid, crospovidone Type A, povidone K-25, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, purified water. Coating: Opadry White YS-1-7003 (composition: titanium dioxide (E171), hypromellose 2910, 3cp, hypromellose 2910, 6cp, macrogol 400, polysorbate 80), carnauba wax, purified water.
Dosage and Use
- Use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age (weighing more than 50 kg): 1-2 tablets orally. If necessary, the dose may be repeated no more often than every 4 hours, up to 4 times a day. The maximum daily dose of paracetamol: 4000 mg (8 tablets).
- Children aged 6-11 years: orally ½ – 1 tablet (250 mg – 500 mg). If necessary, the dose may be repeated no more often than every 4 hours, up to 4 times a day. The maximum daily dose of paracetamol: 60 mg/kg body weight/24 hours administered in divided doses up to 4 times a day, 15 mg/kg body weight.
- Do not give the medicine to children under 6 years of age.
- Without consulting a doctor, the drug should not be used regularly for more than 3 days.
- Do not use more than the recommended dose.
- The drug should not be used more often than every 4 hours.
- Always use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time.
- Do not use simultaneously with other drugs containing paracetamol.
Always take Panadol Sprint exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are not sure.
Contraindications
Do not take Panadol Sprint if:
- you are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- in case of alcoholism,
- you have severe liver or kidney failure.

Warnings
This is medicine. For safety, use it according to the leaflet attached to the package. Do not exceed the maximum dose of the drug. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine contains paracetamol. Do not use more than the recommended dose.
Paracetamol overdose can lead to severe liver damage.
The drug should not be used simultaneously with other drugs containing paracetamol, such as painkillers, antipyretics, used to treat the symptoms of flu and colds or to help with sleeping difficulties.
Read the leaflet before using the medicine and follow the instructions contained therein.
Before using the drug, consult a doctor in the case of:
- liver or kidney failure,
- deficiency of certain enzymes (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and methemoglobin reductase),
- patients suffering from chronic headaches,
- patients who are underweight or malnourished, suffering from anorexia,
- patients who regularly consume alcohol (it may be necessary to stop taking this product altogether or reduce the dose),
- severe infection (sepsis) which may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis.
Symptoms of metabolic acidosis include:
- deep, fast and labored breathing
- feeling sick, vomiting and loss of appetite,
- feeling generally unwell.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the above symptoms at the same time.
Consult your doctor if you suffer from chronic headaches. A particular risk of overdose leading to life-threatening liver damage is in patients with alcoholism and debilitated patients. Pre-existing liver disease increases the risk of liver damage associated with the use of paracetamol.
If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Do not use more than the recommended dose, do not use more often than every 4 hours.
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you suffer from mild arthritis and need to take painkillers every day.
The use of paracetamol may cause false results in some laboratory tests (e.g. determination of blood glucose).
If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Usage during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
- Panadol Sprint can be used during pregnancy if clinically needed. The lowest recommended dose to reduce pain and/or fever should be taken, for the shortest duration and as infrequently as possible.
- You should consult your doctor if your pain and/or fever do not improve or if you need to take your medicine more often. Like other medicines, this medicine should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed.
- Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk in clinically insignificant amounts. Available data show no contraindications to breast-feeding while taking the drug. As with other drugs, the drug should be used during breastfeeding only if clearly needed.
Interactions with other drugs
Do not use other medicines containing paracetamol at the same time.
Consult your doctor if you are taking the following medications:
- metoclopramide, domperidone (used against nausea and vomiting),
- cholestyramine (used to lower high blood cholesterol)
- anticoagulants (such as warfarin or other coumarin medicines) if you need long-term pain relief
- drugs that increase hepatic metabolism, i.e. some sleeping or anti-epileptic drugs (e.g. phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine), rifampicin (an anti-tuberculosis antibiotic), St. John’s wort, which can lead to liver damage even when using the recommended doses of paracetamol,
- MAO inhibitors (used to treat depression)
- salicylamide,
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (including acetylsalicylic acid).
Side effects
Like all medicines, Panadol Sprint can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor if you experience:
- allergic reaction such as skin rash or itchy skin, sometimes with difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face
- skin rash or severe skin reaction with severe generalized pustular rash or blisters and sores on the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals, fever and joint pain or giant blisters bursting under the skin, widespread erosions on the skin, peeling of large patches of skin and fever ,
- breathing problems if you have had similar problems in the past while taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, e.g. ibuprofen
- unexplained bruising or bleeding
- nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss in a short period of time, yellowing of the eyes and skin.
These reactions are very rare (i.e. less than 1 in 10,000 patients).
