Voltaren Express Forte 25mg (10 Capsules)

Voltaren Express Forte in soft capsules contains the active substance diclofenac potassium, which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It relieves pain and inflammation and reduces fever. Voltaren Express Forte relieves symptoms of inflammation such as pain and swelling by blocking the synthesis of molecules responsible for inflammation, pain and fever called prostaglandins. Voltaren does not affect the causes of inflammation and fever. The drug in the form of soft capsules works faster than in the form of tablets.
Intended Use

Voltaren Express Forte is used in muscle pain, rheumatic pain, acute pain in the lumbosacral region (back pain), headache, toothache, dysmenorrhea. Treatment of flu and cold symptoms (general aches and pains, fever), sore throat.

Active substance: Diclofenacum kalicum

Composition
1 capsule contains: 25 mg of potassium diclofenac
the other ingredients are: macrogol 600, glycerol 85%, purified water, gelatin, glycerol 85%, polysorb 85/70/00 (D-sorbitol + 1,4-sorbitan with mannitol), quinoline yellow 70% (E 104)
Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

  • Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age

Initially 1 capsule.

The dose may be repeated after 4 – 6 hours.

Do not use more than 3 capsules a day. The capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

In order to achieve the best effectiveness of the drug, the capsules should not be taken with or immediately after a meal.

Do not use more than the recommended dose

Do not use Voltaren Express Forte for more than 5 days to treat pain or more than 3 days to treat fever without consulting your doctor. If symptoms worsen or persist, see your doctor.

Contraindications

Do not use Voltaren Express Forte:

  • if you are allergic to diclofenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • if you have ever had an allergic reaction to medicines used to treat pain, inflammation or fever, such as diclofenac, ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid (a medicine also used to reduce blood clotting). Reactions may include: asthma attacks, wheezing, rash, facial swelling, runny nose. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
  • if you have heart disease and / or cerebrovascular disease, for example after a heart attack, stroke, mini-stroke (transient ischemia of the brain) or embolism of the blood vessels of the heart or brain, or a blood vessel restoration or bypass surgery;
  • if you have or have had circulatory problems (peripheral vascular disease);
  • if you have or have had ulcers in the stomach and / or duodenum;
  • if you have or have ever had gastrointestinal bleeding, showing signs of blood in your stools or black-colored stools, or perforation (perforation) in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • if you have severe renal or hepatic insufficiency;
  • in women in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Application notes

The drug contains sorbitol.

Warnings

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Voltaren Express Forte:

  • if you have a history of digestive problems, such as ulcers in the stomach and / or duodenum, bleeding in the digestive tract or black colored stools, or have stomach problems or heartburn after taking painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs;
  • if there are intestinal disorders;
  • if you have asthma, kidney or liver problems and if you experience swelling of the feet;
  • if you are taking other anti-inflammatory or analgesic drugs at the same time;
  • if you have had or have heart problems;
  • if there is a risk of dehydration of the body (due to e.g. diarrhea, another disease, and also before or after surgery);
  • if you have bleeding disorders or other blood diseases, including rare hepatic porphyria.

Before taking the drug, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

  • if you smoke tobacco;
  • if you have diabetes;
  • if you suffer from angina, blood clots, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

Side effects can be reduced by using the lowest effective dose and for no longer than necessary.

Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Voltaren Express Forte. If you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant, inform your doctor and do not use Voltaren Express Forte. The use of Voltaren Express Forte during the last three months of pregnancy is contraindicated due to the risk of harm to the fetus or impaired delivery.

Voltaren Express Forte should not be used in breastfeeding women as the drug may be harmful to the breastfed baby. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.

As with other anti-inflammatory drugs, the use of diclofenac, the active ingredient in Voltaren Express Forte, may make it difficult to become pregnant. This is reversible if you stop taking the medicine, but if you are planning a pregnancy or have difficulty becoming pregnant, please inform your doctor.

Driving vehicles
Usually, Voltaren Express Forte has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines. As with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, some people may experience blurred vision or dizziness after taking Voltaren Express Forte. If these side effects occur, do not drive or use machines.

Overdosage
In the event of taking a larger dose of the drug than recommended, immediately consult a physician or pharmacist.

Interactions with other drugs

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, and about any medicines you plan to take. It is especially important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking the following medicines:

  • lithium or antidepressants (medicines to treat depression);
  • digoxin (a medicine to treat heart problems);
  • angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or beta-blockers (medicines used to treat high blood pressure or heart failure);
  • methotrexate (a medicine used to treat certain types of cancer or arthritis);
  • drugs for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, except insulin;
  • diuretics (drugs that increase the amount of urine you pass);
  • drugs that reduce blood clotting (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs);
  • other anti-inflammatory or analgesic drugs such as acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen;
  • corticosteroids (medicines to treat inflammation);
  • cyclosporine and tacrolimus (medicines used in people after organ transplants);
  • trimethoprim (a medicine used to prevent and treat urinary tract infections);
  • antibacterial quinolones (medicines to treat infections);
  • sulfinpyrazone (a medicine to treat gout) or voriconazole (a medicine to treat fungal infections);
  • phenytoin (a medicine to treat epilepsy);
  • colestipol or cholestyramine (medicines used to lower cholesterol).
Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist, including any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. Some side effects can be serious Some side effects are uncommon, especially when used at high doses (150 mg daily) and over a long period of time. This frequency is expected to be lower with short term use at low doses (up to 75 mg / day).

  • reddening of the skin with blisters, peeling of the skin, purple skin lesions, blistering of the mucosa in the mouth or eyes, skin inflammation with peeling skin;
  • swelling of the arms, hands, legs and feet;
  • any changes in the appearance or amount of urine, proteinuria, haematuria;
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (signs of liver damage and / or liver failure), increase in liver enzymes;
  • bleeding, bruising, high fever or prolonged sore throat, frequent infections;
  • increased skin sensitivity to the sun. Taking medications like diclofenac may be associated with a slightly increased risk of heart attack or stroke. The risk is increased when high doses are used for long periods. Other side effects

The side effects that may occur are usually mild. Some side effects have been seen with higher doses of diclofenac, the active ingredient of Voltaren Express Forte, when used over a long period of time. If you notice them, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Common (occurs in less than 1 in 10 people using the medicine):

  • stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, gas, vomiting, indigestion, decreased appetite;
  • headache, dizziness;
  • rash.

Rare (occurs in less than 1 in 1,000 people using the drug):

  • somnolence;
  • itchy rash.

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 people using the medicine): –

  • low amount of white blood cells, low amount of red blood cells;
  • constipation, inflammation of the oral mucosa, swollen red sore tongue, taste disturbance, upper abdominal cramps;
  • tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, tremors;
  • itching and redness of the skin, hair loss;
  • blurred vision, ringing in the ears, hearing impairment;
  • mood changes, difficulty falling asleep, feeling confused.
