Guajazyl Syrup 200g
Guajazyl Syrup is an expectorant in used to treat coughs. Guajazyl decreases the volume of mucus in the bronchi and trachea and reduces its viscosity, soothing cough and facilitating expectoration.
Active ingredient: Guaifenesin
Composition of Guajazyl Syrup
5ml of syrup contains 125 mg of guaifenesin (Guaifenesinum).
Excipients with known effect : sucrose, cochineal red (E 124), ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, ethanol.

Dosage
1 teaspoon contains 5ml, i.e. 6.2 g of syrup.
1 tablespoon contains 15ml, i.e. 18.7 g of syrup.
Children and youth
Children aged 6 to 12 years: 5ml of syrup (1 teaspoon) 3 or 4 times a day. Adults and children over 12 years of age: 15ml of syrup (1 tablespoon) 3 or 4 times a day.
Do not take two doses of the medicinal product at the same time. Withdrawal of Guajzyl syrup does not cause side effects. Take the syrup after a meal with a small amount of liquid.
Method of administration: Oral use.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
From the age of 6: 3-4 times a day, a teaspoon
Adult dosage
3-4 times a day a tablespoon of syrup.
Contraindications
Do not take if you have a hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1.

Warnings
This is medicine. For safety, use it according to the leaflet attached to the package. Do not exceed the maximum dose of the drug. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If the cough is persistent, lasts more than a week, recurs or is accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headaches, the cause of the cough must be determined and treated as it can be a symptom of serious medical conditions.
In smokers, patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema, guaifenesin should be used with caution and after weighing the benefit/risk ratio by the physician.
The medicinal product contains sucrose.
Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicinal product.
The medicinal product contains the azo dye cochineal red (E 124). The product may cause allergic reactions.
The medicinal product contains ethyl parahydroxybenzoate.
The product may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
The medicinal product contains ethanol. 15ml of syrup (1 tablespoon), single dose for adults, contains 562 mg of ethanol.
Due to the ethanol content, the product should not be used in children under 6 years of age, as well as in patients with liver failure, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain damage and mental illness.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Guajazyl should not be used during pregnancy and lactation due to the ethanol content.
Driving
15ml of syrup (1 tablespoon), single dose for adults, contains 562 mg of ethanol. Ethanol affects the ability to drive and use machines, and also reduces psychomotor performance (e.g. swimming, working at heights).
Overdosage
There are no reports of serious disorders after taking even high doses of guaifenesin. Symptoms include nausea and vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea or drowsiness may occur. Symptomatic treatment is recommended in case of overdose.
Interactions with other drugs
In people with hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, prostatic hyperplasia and glaucoma, taking phenylpropanolamine, guaifenesin should be used with caution.
Products of guaifenesin metabolism may interfere with laboratory assays of 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) and vanillylmandelic acid (VMA); however, they do not cause false positive results in healthy individuals.
