Espumisan drops are a universal remedy for flatulence (gas accumulation) – drops can be used in all age groups.

The active substance in Espumisan drops is simethicone. This compound reduces the tension in the air bubbles that enter the intestines with food. Simethicone has only a surface effect and does not enter into any chemical or enzymatic reactions.

Thanks to simethicone, intestinal gases break down faster and are expelled from the body. As a result, the feeling of fullness after meals and the resulting abdominal pain disappear.

In infants, Espumisan, by breaking air bubbles, eliminates one of the causes of colic. Espumisan drops shorten the duration and often even prevent infant colic attacks.

The dosage of Espumisan depends on the age of the patient and the purpose for which the preparation is used. In 1 ml of drops there is 100 mg of simethicone, which should be taken in appropriate portions: 3 to 5 times a day.

• in the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive gas accumulation, e.g. flatulence or increased gas formation in the digestive tract;

After consulting your doctor:

• in the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive gas accumulation, e.g. in the case of increased gas formation in the gastrointestinal tract in the postoperative period;
• supporting the preparation of patients for abdominal examinations (e.g. radiological and ultrasound examinations as well as endoscopic examinations, as an addition to the contrast agent suspension).

Active substance: Simeticonum

Composition

The active substance	1 ml of emulsion for oral use contains 100 mg of simethicone
the other ingredients	Macrogol stearate, glyceryl monostearate 40-55, sorbic acid, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), acesulfame potassium, sodium chloride, liquid sorbitol (non-crystallizing) (E 420), carbomer, sodium citrate, banana flavor, purified water.

Dosage

The dose of the drug should be selected taking into account the severity of the symptoms. Espumisan 100mg/ml can be taken immediately before, during or after a meal, if necessary also before bedtime.
In gastrointestinal ailments associated with excessive accumulation of gases in the digestive tract:

• Infants: 5-10 drops should be added to a bottle of milk or given on a small spoon before each breastfeeding.
• Children 1-6 years: 10 drops 3 to 5 times a day,
• Children 6-14 years: 10-20 drops 3 to 5 times a day,
• Adolescents and adults: 20 drops 3 to 5 times a day.

Espumisan 100mg/ml can also be administered to patients in the postoperative period.

When should Espumisan Drops not be used?

In case of allergy (hypersensitivity) to the active substance – simethicone or to any of the other excipients of Espumisan 100mg/ml.

If Espumisan is used in infants and children, a doctor should be consulted.

Espumisan contains sorbitol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to the lack of clinical studies on the use of the drug in pregnancy, the use of this drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Side Effects

So far, no side effects associated with the use of Espumisan have been reported.
